Easter break was great. Ryan's parents came in on a Thursday morning. We let them rest for one day and then we were off. We took them to London on Friday morning. We did most of the tourist things! It was good to go back and see some of the things that we missed the first time. We stayed overnight and started back up on Saturday. Then we headed back to Watchfield and rested up before our big trip. We spent one day at the zoo and one day around the house doing nothing. Then on April 3.... the adventure began!!
April 3rd.... Bristol to Madrid
We landed in Madrid at 9:30. The girls were doing great but they were ready for bed. We found us a taxi and off we went to the apartment. It was great. I love the apartment route instead of the hotel with the girls, that is for sure!!! The next morning, Ryan and I went out looking for something for breakfast. We didn't find much but we did find Starbucks. It was raining so we took our time getting out that day. We did go out for lunch. As we were sitting at lunch, Madelyn fell asleep in my lap. Well we know something is up when that happens. We took her back to the apartment and let the girls take a nap. Beebaw offered to stay with the girls so Ryan and I took Mamie out on the bus tour. It was nice, but it was cold and wet. That night, Ryan and I went out for some Tapas. It was GREAT!!! And the Sangria.... YUMMY!!! On Thursday we headed out again as a family. All of us were feeling better and we were ready to go. I think we saw everything, I mean EVERYTHING there was to see. All in that one day. That night Mamie and Beebaw took Madelyn out to dinner. Ryan and I stayed back with Reagan. One thing with Madrid and Rome, there were no highchairs. So we did dinners in sections so we wouldn't have Reagan running around the place instead of eating.
April 6th.... Madrid to Rome
We landed in Rome in early evening. We could still see things as we were coming into the city. We were headed to our new apartment, and already thinking of dinner. We put our bags down and headed out to find a great pizza place. We didn't find a pizza place, but we did find a great restaurant. It was delicious!! That was what we all needed to have a great night sleep. Saturday we took it a bit easy. We went on a 10 minute walk to The Colosseum. We walked around it and too a few 100 pictures. Then we had another great dinner and watched the sun go down around The Colosseum. It was beautiful. But, we were all pretty tired and Ryan, Mamie and Madelyn were going to have an early start on Sunday. Sunday, they were attending Easter Mass and Blessing at the Vatican. They got up about 545 and headed out about 630. Ryan said they were in line by 7. I stayed back with Reagan. She needed a day of rest. Ryan, Mamie and Madelyn came back just in time for lunch. Regan was just waking up from her nap and we were all ready for lunch. So off we went in search for more food. ha ha! We took to the hop on and off bus for the rest of Easter Sunday and Monday. Monday we had some great weather, but we opted to keep it light for the sake of the girls. They were done walking around and I think Ryan was a bit done with having Reagan on his shoulders. We again found a great place for our last dinner in Rome and with Mamie and Beebaw. We were all heading out of Rome on Tuesday. Tuesday morning we all got up and headed to our van for the airport. We were heading home and Mamie and Beebaw were out to continue their European Adventure in Paris.
April 10.....Rome to Bristol
It was so nice to be in our own car and on our way back to our own house. We grabbed a quick bit at good ol' McDonalds and got ready for bed. We all had a great time, but we understand the saying... there's no place like home!
