Well we finally made it to London. It was a short trip but a good trip. And we couldn't have picked a better weekend. Yes, it was crowded but it was beautiful and warm. We managed to knock a few things off of my list of Things To Do. We left the house on Saturday morning and headed into London. We dropped off our stuff our neighbors apartment that he was letting us borrow. Then off we went. Our first stop of course was food. We hit a pub next to the underground. It was very good. Then it was off into the city. Madelyn saw Big Ben and she was very happy. Then we went to the London Eye. That was pretty nice. You could see all of London. I was able to stand until we were just about at the top and then I had to sit down. haha! After we left the London Eye, we made our way to Buckingham Palace. We took a few pictures and then we were ready to find some dinner. Yes, food again! Ryan googled a sushi restaurant. It was pretty good, but just didn't hit the spot all the way. After dinner and all the walking, Madelyn was pooped. She was done, so we headed back to the apartment to get ready for bed.
Sunday was pretty much a day for Madelyn. Thanks to Mamie and our friend Lisa, we were able to find out about Rapunzel having a parade in London. So we got up Sunday and packed up the car. We got back on the underground and we were going to hit Harrods first. When we got there, we realized that it didn't open until 1130. It was 1115 and Madelyn was already ready for lunch, and so was I. We decided to put Harrods on our list for our next trip. We went closer to Kensington Palace in a taxi. Madelyn was super excited about that. We found an Italian restaurant across the street from where the parade was to take place. Madelyn wanted pizza.... of course. So we had a yummy lunch and then it was time to put on our Rapunzel dress, which just happens to be our Halloween costume. If we are going to a princess parade, you HAVE to dress like a princess. It was in the garden at Kensington Palace. So we headed in and found the perfect spot in the shade, right at the front. Reagan was happy to get out of her stroller and run around. Madelyn was happy because she was right up front. The parade started and there were all the princess!!! Madelyn was super excited because Tiana's carriage stopped right in front of her and she said hello to her. Then the best of the best happened. Rapunzel's carriage stopped right in front of her too!!! She looked at her and told her she looked pretty! That was it... Madelyn was set for life. We gathered everyone up and headed out to the underground to go back to the car. Our time in London was now over, but we do know what we or, I want to hit next time.
When we got back home, I found out our other friends ended up going there too. We commented on how Disney missed out on a golden opportunity they had to make some money. And when you think of Disney you think of BIG events. It was pretty low key and not that much to it. We were ready for vendors, music, and balloons... the works!
As we said thank you to our neighbors, he informed me that Harrods was a perfect place to go at Christmas. So you know what that means... we are heading back when they get there Christmas decorations up. I LOVE CHRISTMAS TIME AND DECORATIONS!!!
